Children’s Birthdays
Children’s birthdays (children’s parties) are available for up to 50 children and run at 11:00, 12:00 and 14:00. Advance booking strictly necessary. From November to April we can offer children’s birthday tours on working days, including Saturdays, but not on Sundays or public holidays.
Get close to nature with this “adventure programme” for 5- to 15-year-old children and adolescents, ideal as a birthday party. Also ideal as a special occasion for school celebrations and end of exam season parties. We offer three different versions of underground children’s birthday parties, tailored to suit different age groups and completely independent of the weather. All variants include an age-appropriate tour, as well as barbecues. The age recommendations come from many years of experience.
Options for children’s birthdays (children’s parties) with age recommendations:
- Option I: 5 to max. 7 years 1.5-hr-children’s birthday up to 10 children 125 €, each additional child/accompanying person +10 €, recommended age 5 to max. 7 years (pre-school age)
- Option II: 7 to 10 years 2.5-hr-children’s birthday up to 10 children 175 €, each additional child/accompanying person +15 €
- Option III: 10 to 15 years 2.5-hr-children’s birthday up to 10 children 175 €, each additional child/accompanying person +15 €
Children’s birthdays always require a fixed booking and prepayment, as well as a full postal address with a mobile phone number as well as first name and age of the birthday child.
You can easily book special tours by email, phone, post or fax.
You will receive an electronic reservation confirmation / invoice with VAT shown separately. The booking becomes effective as soon as payment is received. Special tours always require a fixed booking and prepayment.

We would also ask you to provide the first name and age of the birthday child for children’s birthdays. We recommend booking in good time, about 6 weeks in advance, to ensure that your desired dates are available. For special tours / reservations, customer cancellation with reimbursement is possible up to 7 days before the date.
Up to three accompanying adults can join the children’s birthday tour for free, which means that even grandma and granddad can join the fun.
BBQs at children’s birthdays (children’s parties)
Please bring your own food (sausages / rolls) to grill, according to your own preferences, as well as drinks (warm cocoa / tea in winter) and plates. You can also bring salads or cakes, we leave the choices up to your imagination. We provide a wood camp fire outside the mine (alternatively a “poor weather electric grill” in the pit). There are also grill grates, cutlery and tables with benches.
Please note
Due to the length of the children’s birthday party, warm clothing (jacket) and sturdy, closed footwear are absolutely necessary, even in summer temperatures. The clothes can get dirty! The temperature in the mine is + 10 °C all year round. The mine is damp, but rubber boots and rain jackets are not necessary.
We recommend that you get in touch one day before a children’s birthday party to discuss details by phone.
We start promptly at the agreed time, from the entrance to the Mining Museum at the top of the Schauinsland.
Minimum age requirements for the longer special tours
For the 2.5-hr children’s birthdays (children’s parties) Option III with ladder descent we recommend a minimum age of 12 years. With sufficient physical fitness we will accept participants from 10 years of age. Participating children must therefore be at least 10 years old.
